History of Psi Chapter at Dartmouth College
The Psi Chapter of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Incorporated at Dartmouth College was founded by four men on June 8, 1997. To make the chapter unique and to make its name more meaningful they chose a nickname they felt represented their presence at Dartmouth College. The four founders chose El Norte as Psi chapter’s nickname, and their choice continues to hold significance in the experiences of Hermanos and Latinos today. Dartmouth College was originally founded in 1769 “for the education and instruction of Youth of the Indian Tribes.” Similarly, La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Incorporated was founded “to address the shortcomings of academic institutions in meeting and addressing the needs of Latino students in higher education.”
