Major/Minor: Women's and Gender Studies with Concentrations in Law and Masculinity Brief Biography: My name is David Rolla and I'm from Commerce City, Colorado (just north of Denver). My father's family (Victor) is Mexican and my mother's (Pamela) is Spanish. I graduated went to Adams City High School in 2008. I am Women's and Gender Studies major and I plan to attend law school after Dartmouth. Specifically, I would like to be a civil lawyer and work for contemporary civil rights issues in the United States. I like dancing to hip hop and electro music. I don't believe in failure--every "failure" is an opportunity to learn--and I enjoy approaching life creatively. Achievements:
What are you doing now? Currently I am interning at Google in Mountain View, California. I will soon finish my senior year at Dartmouth and graduate in June 2012. After, I plan to take a year or so off and then head to law school. Why did you pledge? I am an only child and didn't really know what it meant to have a brother. I desired people in my life who I could truly call my brothers and count on them come thick or thin, but I also wanted to be there for any of the people I would call brothers if I pledged. Thankfully, I pledged and found exactly the Hermandad I was looking for. My LBs are truly my brothers and I have instant connections with every Hermano I have met thus far. Beyond gaining brothers, I also wanted to improve myself for myself and for the work I plan to do in the future. The collection skills and knowledge I've learned from the other Hermanos is immense and they never once let me settle for less if they know I can push through and do better. This support network is probably one of aspects of La Fraternidad that I cherish most. Now, I'm a proud Hermano of La Unidad Latina and it's definitely one of the best decisions I've made so far in life. Favorite moment as a Hermano: It's hard to pick just one moment, but generally, any time I spend with my LBs has been great so far! Whether it's with my 1 and 2, Caesar and Chris, or my LBs from across the nation--it's always a great time and I'm always amazed by the hospitality and instant sense of Brotherhood. As mentioned above, I'm interning in California and all of my LBs and bros out here have gone out of their way to make me feel at home. This truly is a great Hermandad. Advice to interested men: La Unidad is a group of exceptional men. We take care of each other and work hard in life. If you feel that you would both benefit and contribute from an outstanding brotherhood and you hold yourself to high standards, then this is probably a great option for you. If you desire to be pushed and held accountable for being the best person you can be, then again, this is a great option for you. No matter what happens in life, stay focused and determined. Don't lose your drive. Focus on the end goal, but embrace all the experiences leading to the result. Joining La Fraternidad is a life-enhancing experience and I encourage you to reach out to any Hermano for more information and to get to know them. Odds are, he's probably a really great and interesting person. =) |
