Major/Minor: History Brief Biography: I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA where I attended parochial elementary school for five years. I then spent eight years at Girard College, a five-day boarding school in Philadelphia. I graduated second in my high school senior class in 2006 and then entered Dartmouth in the fall of 2006. Achievements: • Co-Student Director for National Internships- Tucker Foundation • Civic Intern for Poverty Awareness Week 2009- Tucker Foundation • French Language Study Abroad Program- Lyon, France • Dartmouth Partners in Community Service Intern- Our Brother’s Place; Philadelphia, PA • Academic Citation- Biology 2: Human Biology • Horatio Alger Pennsylvania Scholar • Managing Editor’s Intern- Philadelphia City Paper What are you doing now? I am currently a preschool co-teacher at Excel Academy Public Charter School in Washington, DC. I previously worked as a pre-kindergarten teaching fellow at the school. Why did you pledge? I pledged because I wanted to be a part of a brotherhood where I could find a group of young men working together to make a collective and positive impact on campus for both present and future Dartmouth students. I was also intrigued by LUL’s commitment to education. As a former Dartmouth student, and now as a teacher, I believe that one can ascend most limitations in life with a proper education. Favorite moment as a Hermano: While serving as president my senior year, I enjoyed planning Noche Dorada in 2009 and Stroll Show in 2010, LUL’s two biggest events of the year. We received a lot of support and participation from alumni, Hermanos from different chapters, and other minority Greek organizations. Both events were filled with members of the Dartmouth community. Their appreciation and enthusiasm for the events made all of the time and effort behind-the-scenes worthwhile. Advice to interested men: As other Hermanos have also stated, do your research to make sure that you are interested in LUL for the appropriate reasons. If you decide that this fraternity is the right fit for you, see the process all the way through. Becoming an Hermano will be one of the best decisions you will make in life! |
